A little over a year ago, Yoda the little black chihuahua with major trust issues joined us. He was rescued from a serious hoarding situation. Yoda clearly showed signs of trauma. He had very little trust in people, but his spirit had not been broken – he was a very happy, playful little dog despite what he had been through. Yoda has such a zest for life and a very quirky personality. He loves to play and has some peculiar things he likes to play with: green beans, figs, tomatoes, and avocados. He loves to bask in the sun, sleep cuddled up against you, give kisses, and follows you everywhere. While in his foster homes Yoda learned to trust and learned to make friends with other foster dogs, cuddling with them whenever he could. He protected and comforted our AMBASSADOR Wilbur. He had a very special bond with Opal and then Gingy.
Each dog and foster parent Yoda encountered taught him something new but most importantly that he could trust and everyone was there to protect him. If you have been following Yoda’s journey you would see Yoda at all our adoption fairs hanging out with our youth volunteers, visitors and see how much everyone loves this guy. He holds a special place in all of our hearts.
While Yoda waited patiently for a year to find his perfect family, other dogs joined the rescue and were adopted quickly. He was thriving and living the life he deserved to live, filled with comfort, love, encouragement, car rides, treats, snuggles…all the things he never had. We all waited patiently, knowing his forever family would find him…and they did. Almost one week before his year with us his new family reached out specifically looking to adopt a special dog like Yoda. After a trial period, the family fell in love with him completely. His new family loves all of his quirks, accepts him for who he is, and wouldn’t want to change a thing about their precious little boy. Yoda’s new mom fawns over him. Cooks for him every day and relishes each moment she spends with him. He is spoiled rotten and it is well deserved!
From Yoda’s Mom;
“……..he’s a super special and a sensitive dog who is so sweet and loving once you can get past his difficult exterior. But now that he trusts me he is so loyal and I’m so happy that I have a new best friend! 😊
Plus he’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!! “
It’s a blessing he found his humans but It can be hard to say goodbye especially after caring for him for so long. But when you see the look of love in YODA’s eyes 👀 our hearts melt and we are extremely happy for all.
With that said we want to share Yoda’s foster mom’s heartwarming comments which hit home especially during these trying times;
“Throughout the year Yoda spent with us, he taught us many things. He taught us that despite the trauma, we can survive and thrive. Yoda taught us that if you do the necessary work, you can trust again – just as he learned to quickly trust his new adoptive family. When Yoda loves you, he loves you completely, with devotion, and unconditionally. Yoda taught us that we can let go of the past, live in the now, and look forward to the future. Yoda will forever be the biggest little man.”
Thank you everyone for following his journey!
Congratulations to the family! 🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️
